Dr. Gopichand
Dr M Gopichand (@drgopichandm) is consultant urologist in Krishna institute of medical sciences (KIMS HOSPITAL) in Secunderabad. He is expert for kidney ,ureter, urinary bladder and genitourinary organs diseases. He is a national board urology teacher and examiner .He is a prominent member of urology society, both national, zonal and state associations. He also has completed robotic training fellowship in robotic surgery at Georgia, north Atlanta.. Dr M. Gopichand has authored two book chapters, 10 papers in national journals, and over 6 articles in international journals. His work was presented as papers and videos in international and national events, and he was invited on several occasions to give lectures and serve as a panellist in scientific gatherings. He has participated in numerous national and international conferences held by the urological association, presenting scientific papers and posters.
He did his surgery and urology super specialiazation from Mumbai university. He had an assistant professor position at the esteemed NIMS Hyderabad. He then performed urological surgeries at several facilities throughout the state.
He has spent the last 20 years working Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, has successfully completed more than 3000 major and supermajor uro-oncology surgeries, including more than 500 robotic procedures. He played a key role in establishing the hospital’s robotic surgery programme.
In accordance with the international standard of 100-200 ml, he has performed robotic radical prostatectomy procedures with an average blood loss of about 200 ml. At 8 months, the urinary incontinence rate is 12% (international benchmark: 9–15%). Using open laparoscopic and robotic techniques, he has conducted over 200 radical and partial nephrectomies with perioperative mortality of less than 1% (international benchmark 0-1.2%) and morbidity of 3% (international benchmark 2-5%).Radical Cystectomy (Removal of Urinary Bladder for Cancer) has been performed on 20 patients with a mortality rate of 0% and a morbidity rate of 10%.
He has performed laser lithotripsy on more than 8000 cases of stone surgery.He is an expert in RIRS and PCNL,MINI PERC.He is skilled in modern stone treatment techniques. Additionally, he has performed more than 50 holep surgeries and treated more than 1000 cases of prostate cancer. His extensive surgical experience includes reconstructive urethral procedures, of which he has completed more than 100.
M Gopichand is part of the kidney transplant team which performs one of the highest number of kidney transplant in the country. The team has a robust program performing cadaver transplant, lap donor and robotic kidney transplant program. The team does average of 200 transplants in a year across the twin states of TS & AP .
He is the senior urologist and team head at KIMS, where urology care is available around-the- clock. His clinics are specialised. The department is well furnished with the newest urodynamics, a da Vinci robot, flexible scopes, tiny scopes, and a 100 watt lumenis laser HD system.
